Road & Mountain Biking

The biking in the Roaring Fork Valley is world Class. Glenwood Springs, Carbondale, Basalt, Snowmass and Aspen are filled with great road and mountain bike rides. In Glenwood, the Canyon is a popular road ride and the FlatTops offer fantastic, but challenging mountain biking. The best source of information on rides is the outdoor stores in the Valley. Most of these shops offer bike rentals and are staffed by locals who know the terrain as well as anyone.

Hiking
Glenwood Springs is packed with more trails than you could imagine. People who have lived here for decades have barely scratched the surface of what’s out there. Glenwood has something to offer all abilities and ages.

Hanging Lake
Moderate / Difficult
Located away in spectacular Glenwood Canyon on I70 east exit 125, this trail is by far the most popular hike for visitors and locals alike. It is a little over one mile each way, Hikers are greated to a pristine lake with a cascading waterfall.
Locals tip - begin your hike early or start late in the afternoon to beat the crowds and heat.
Red Mountain
Moderate / Difficult
This hike offers a beautifull view of downtown Glenwood. A 3.5 mile trail traverses up Red Mountain to an overlook. Take 7th street west to 9th and continue to the dead end and the trail entrence.
Storm King Trail
Difficult
In 1994 fourteen firefighters gave their lives battling the South Canyon Fire. For hikers who want to understand the history of the fire and the extreme difficulties these brave men and women faced they will find it on this trail.
Take exit 109 on I70 and the frontage rd east to the trailhead.

Glenwood Canyon Trail
Easy
A paved trail along the banks of the Colorado river. Ther are many staring points along I 70 in Glenwood Canyon at any of the Rest areas.
